Green speed
I wanted to bring up a topic that is on a lot of minds, green speed. Right now we are in a "transition" period with bermudagrass. This means the grass is beginning to wake up from winter and start growing. With the last few days in the 70's we will green up soon. The greens are also transitioning and although they are green, they are not yet growing aggressively. They are pretty quick right now and as you know we have a few very undulated greens. A few of these greens, particularly #12 front is almost unplayable. We are trying to find fair pin placements for these severely sloped greens and you may have noticed the flags in unfamiliar locations. My thought behind this is to avoid our typical locations since the old plugs just do not heal this time of year. Many voiced their concerns this weekend on the greens being too penal with tough pin placements, fast greens and high winds. I assure you it is not my intention to make it so tough that it's not fun.
